This package will provide all of the training required by DPS to apply for your License To Carry. There are 2 parts to this package, the in person classroom training, and the shooting proficiency demonstration. The classroom training is 4.5 - 6 hours, and will cover 4 topics, with a written test at the end of the class. The class covers state laws applicable to carrying a firearm, firearm use and safety, including the use of restraint holsters. The test is 25 questions, and must be passed with a minimum score of 70%. The shooting portion consists of 50 rounds fired at a standard B-27 target as required by the state. Multiple shots are fired from 3, 7, and 15 yards. A total score of 250 points is possible, and a passing score of 175 is required to pass. Targets will be provided by the instructor. If the shooting portion is performed at the instructors preferred gun range, there will be no range fees. Scoring will be covered in more detail during the class. You will only need to bring snacks, and any note taking material you may want to use. Items needed for the shooting portion will be covered in the class.
